On June 14, 2002, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) approved a Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People, addressing the Church’s commitment to deal with cases of sexual abuse of minors by church personnel, past and present and mandates that all dioceses provide safe environments for minors. The Archdiocese is audited annually to assure compliance with the Charter.
The Archdiocese of Dubuque requires all employees and volunteers to complete a Protecting God’s Children for Adults as part of its commitment to be in compliance with the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People.
You can either complete training online or attend a live training class.
Go to www.virtus.org, click on Registration –click on “Begin the Registration Process.” Select “Dubuque, IA (Archdiocese)” Create a user id and password. Select the primary location where you will work or volunteer. Complete form questions as directed.
Training Screen: Scroll through and choose a live training session OR scroll to end and choose Protecting God’s Children for Adults (Online Training). Complete the training, and print your Certificate of Completion and provide a copy of the certificate to your Employer/Church or School Office.
To attend a live training class: follow directions as above; but choose a live training session from the list that shows. Attend the training, and provide a copy of the certificate of completion to your Employer/Church or School Office. If you attend a live training session you will receive a certificate at the end of the session.
