Pastoral Associate – St. Edward Church, Waterloo. Purpose of the Position:

  1. To assist the pastor with the overall care of the parish by inviting all members to acquire an ongoing conversion to the Lord in holy living, to support their active membership in the Christian community of St. Edward Church, and to support their call to be an evangelizing people of faith, with love, in hope through the ministry of:
  2. Pastoral care of individuals suffering from illness, grief, family crises and responding to the needs of and advocating for the poor and victimized in the community and beyond.
  3. Parish community life by fostering a sense of community and stewardship within the parish in which all members feel a sense of belonging to each other, the parish, and the larger church.
  4. Administration by collaborating with the pastor, staff, pastoral council, volunteer ministers of the parish and larger Catholic community.

Youth Minister – St. Mary Parish in Waverly, Iowa, a vibrant parish with 800 families, is seeking a 35-hr, 11mo. Youth Minister. The candidate will provide leadership, vision, and administration for a 5th-12th grade ministry. Responsibilities include training and support of adult leaders who implement middle and high school sessions, integration of youth into parish ministries, and coordination of the confirmation process. The candidate needs to be able to work collaboratively with the pastoral staff and demonstrate the ability to coordinate and facilitate multiple ministries. Youth Minister – Queen of Saints Cluster (Van Horne, Blairstown, Newhall and Norway) is looking for a person to coordinate our high school Youth Ministry program. Requirements include directing our high school Youth Ministry program, which includes participation at the National Catholic Youth Conference. The Youth Minister position is a 10 hour per week position. Qualifications include:

  1. Catholic in good standing.
  2. Minimum of three years working with teenagers.
  3. Preferred but not required Certification in Youth Ministry.
  4. Completion of Virtus Training.
  5. Be familiar and aware of availability of resources, i.e., “The National Catechetical Directory,” “Sharing the Light of Faith,” “A Vision of Youth Ministry” and “The Challenge of Adolescent Catechesis.”
  6. Need to possess a valid Iowa Driver’s License.

St. Pius X Parish in Cedar Rapids, IA, seeks to fill the following positions:

Director of Faith Formation – who is committed to formation of the Catholic Faith for all ages in a parish of 2000 families. This is a full-time position and includes sacramental preparation for Baptism, Reconciliation, and Eucharist; direction of the RCIA program; and implementation of adult formation opportunities. This person will also oversee the Coordinator(s) of Religious Education for grades 1-12 and Youth Minister.

Coordinator of Religious Education, grades K-5 – This is a part-time position (10 months per year, 15 hours per week). Primary responsibilities include coordination of religious education classes for elementary aged children and Vacation Bible School, and recruitment of catechists.

Youth Minister – This is a part-time position, 15-20 hours per week, over 12 months. Primary responsibilities include coordination of religious education classes for middle and high school students, youth ministry sessions, and various retreats and youth conferences.

Director of Faith Formation -St. Patrick Catholic Church in Anamosa, Iowa is seeking a full-time Director of Faith Formation. General responsibilities will include vision and coordination for the Parish’s efforts in: sacramental preparation, religious education, RCIA and adult education.

Director of Campus Ministry – St. Stephen the Witness Catholic Student Center at the University of Northern Iowa seeks a Director of Campus Ministry.  The Director will lead professional staff, peer ministers, students, and community members with a vision of evangelizing the campus community.  The purpose of St. Stephen’s is to form missionary disciples to share the Good News on the UNI campus.  Therefore, the Director needs to be a committed disciple of Jesus Christ with a shepherd’s heart for the lost.  The Director will help continue to implement the Evangelical Catholic model of ministry, as they will be entering service at St. Stephen’s in the early stages of a three-year alliance with EC.  As the administrator of the Student Center, the Director needs to be a trustworthy and proven steward of resources, and an effective leader.  The qualified candidate for this position will be a practicing Catholic, hold a Master’s degree in theological or ministry studies, and have several years of experience in ministry and administration.  Send cover letter and resume by May 1 to Rev. Director, Faith Formation – St. Ludmila Parish, a progressive faith community in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is looking for a creative and engaging Director of Faith Formation. Interested applicants must demonstrate a strong formation in theology and praxis founded in the Spirit of Vatican II. The collaborative leader will work with the Coordinator of Religious Education who leads grade school and middle school religious education, and a part time youth minister who leads an active middle school, high school, confirmation program and young adult ministry. The Director of Faith Formation is a full-time position, that will concentrate on a comprehensive formation and educational program for parishioners of all ages including students at Kirkwood Community College. Technology and Communication Person – St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Dubuque, IA is looking for a part-time staff member who is excited about using new contemporary ways to reconnect the unchurched or disengaged by telling the parish story through social media, electronic communication, and other marketing efforts.

This 20-hour per week position has flexible hours, collaborates with the parish communication and marketing committee, and has the following responsibilities: Lead and support marketing and communication efforts of the parish as needed; maintain parish social media channels by generating content, responding to messages and monitoring analytics; oversee parish-wide graphics and branding to ensure visual and message consistency; assist in design of parish publications including postcards, screen presentations for mass, videos, electronic signage, bulletins, homily graphics, and more; and lead efforts to update and redesign the parish website;

Requirements are: familiarity with current and emerging social media tools; experience using marketing tools to tell a story; desire to work on a faith-based team to help others enhance their spiritual life; ability to work some evenings and Sunday mornings; technology proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office; and experience running live graphics presentations and familiarly with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
