Beauty Alive

Thanks to Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women (ACCW), the Archdiocese of Dubuque reached out and listened to hundreds of women from throughout the archdiocese at seven different Beauty Alive events in fall of 2017. Each Beauty Alive event opened with prayer, most often led by Rev. Daniel Knipper, spiritual advisor for ACCW. Sheila Rassmen, president of ACCW, then greeted the women, explained the purpose of ACCW, and then extended an invitation for women to become active members in their own parish/cluster ACCW.

We then got down to business by thanking the women in attendance for what they are already doing to participate in the mission of Jesus, and encouraging them to continue to invite other women into a relationship with Christ. We asked women to share the good things already happening in women’s ministries in their area.

We then listened to the needs, desires, dreams and ideas of women—and we heard hundreds. Each site, though similar, had its own distinct flavor, challenges, and interests. Each evening concluded with the women praying together the ACCW Our Lady of Good Counsel Prayer. One thing that remained the same at each event was that women enjoyed connecting with other women of faith! Women long to belong!

It was a great joy and pleasure meeting and listening to so many beautiful women at the Beauty Alive events! Thanks to ACCW for making this wonderful opportunity available! We look forward to continued collaboration between ACCW and the archdiocesan offices for the benefit of all women of the Archdiocese of Dubuque!
