‘Joint Declaration’ anniversary celebration coming

Event Feb. 12-13 brings Catholic and Lutherans together

On Feb. 12-13 2015, Wartburg Theological Seminary, the Archdiocese of Dubuque, and Loras College are co-sponsoring a Celebration of the 15th Anniversary of the signing of the Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification by the Lutheran World Federation and the Roman Catholic Church, 31 October 1999.

On Thursday evening, 12 February, Father Thomas O’Meara, O.P., Professor Emeritus of Theology at the University of Notre Dame and former professor at the Aquinas Institute in Dubuque, will present a lecture, “Times of Change: 1515-2015 Wittenberg, Rome, Dubuque,” at 6:30 p.m. in Ballroom C-D of the Alumni Campus Center at Loras College. His lecture will be preceded by Evening Prayer at 6:05 p.m..

The Celebration will continue on Friday, 13 February, on the campus of Wartburg Theological Seminary, in the Wm. Loehe Chapel, from 8:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m..  The program, which is being offered free of charge, will include a panel on the Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification (JDDJ), worship in the chapel, small group discussions of the JDDJ, and a closing panel discussion. Lunch will be available for purchase.
