Faith for a Lifetime

This year we begin our fourth year of Faith for A Lifetime.  The main purpose behind our Adult Formation Sessions is this conviction: we are never done growing in our faith.  We can never rest on the formation we received when we were young.  As we progress in life we need to understand and appreciate the gift of our Catholic faith throughout our lives.

This academic year after many requests, we are going to be dedicating our sessions to the Holy Bible. There are so many of our parishioners who want to read and pray with the Bible but they don’t know where to start or how to proceed. So that’s what we are going to do. Over the course of the academic year we will dive into what we as Catholics believe about the Holy Scriptures.

The Bible is not as scary as we think, but it is rich and it does help to know more about how the Church interprets the Bible, how the Bible was put together, and to understand what it means to interpret the Scriptural texts in the light of faith. So this year I am asking that you clear out the second Wednesday of every month from September to June and please come with your Bible, an open mind, and an open heart so that you can know the mind and heart of God in his Holy Word.

We are going to be offering Bibles for sale so we are all using the same one. We are also going to offer some resources from our Catholic Church that help us understand the Catholic Church’s understanding of the Bible. As the year goes on, you will realize how rich is the interpretative history and how we use the Bible differently than other churches. So please come.  Please learn. Please encounter the Lord Jesus and bring a friend!

When: The second Wednesday of the month, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Where: St. Aloysius Church, Calmar, Iowa
